Method
- Step 1: In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of pumpkin puree, 1 cup of water, and 1 cup of brown sugar. Stir the mixture thoroughly until everything is well blended.
- Step 2: Add in the 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon of ground nutmeg, 1/4 teaspoon of ground ginger, 1/4 teaspoon of ground cloves, and a pinch of salt. Stir to combine all the ingredients well.
- Step 3: Place the saucepan over medium heat. Allow the mixture to heat until it begins to simmer. Once it starts to simmer, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer gently for 10-15 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
- Step 4: Once the syrup has thickened to your liking, remove the saucepan from heat and let it cool completely.
- Step 5: Use a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth to strain the syrup, removing any solids and leaving you with a smooth syrup.
- Step 6: Transfer the strained syrup into a clean bottle or jar. Seal the container tightly and store it in the refrigerator. Your homemade Pumpkin Spice Syrup can last up to two weeks in the fridge.
Notes
For a thicker syrup, allow it to simmer a bit longer. Feel free to adjust the spices according to your taste.
