Ingredients

For the Sticky BBQ Chicken Drumsticks
  • 2 lb chicken drumsticks the star of the dish! Juicy meat and crispy skin.
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce pick your favorite brand or homemade version
  • 2 tbsp honey adds sweetness
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce for depth of flavor
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar for tanginess
  • 1 tsp garlic powder for savory kick
  • 1 tsp onion powder adds sweet and savory note
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika for smoky flavor
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Baking Sheet
  • Wire Rack

Method

  1. Step 1: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). This is the perfect temperature to achieve crispy skin.
  2. Step 2: In a mixing bowl, combine the barbecue sauce, honey, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well until everything is nicely blended.
  3. Step 3: Place the chicken drumsticks in a large bowl or a resealable plastic bag. Pour the marinade over the drumsticks, ensuring they are evenly coated. Marinate for at least 30 minutes, or if you have time, overnight in the refrigerator.
  4. Step 4: Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a wire rack on top. Arrange the marinated drumsticks on the wire rack.
  5. Step 5: Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the skin is crispy. Baste with additional barbecue sauce halfway through if desired.
  6. Step 6: Remove from the oven and let rest for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired before serving.

Notes

Leftovers? Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, pop them back in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 15-20 minutes.
